The differences between a commercial “Hollywood” film and a no/low budget Indie Film

With Hollywood Films. The script is acquired/developed. The Director is recruited. Locations are scouted and casting is performed.

Rather than get into the Minibus to scout locations Stanley Kubrik had his son photograph an entire possible street location … assemble it into a mosaic then decided on the location to use (In “eyes wide shut” he didn’t use the actual location but constructed a doorway on the backlot that looked like one in the mosaic).

With No/low. Casting/locations/Props are acquired Script created/adapted to the resources available.
