Recently I saw Yo-Yo Ma perform with the Quad Cities Symphony. It was inspiring to see someone not only supremely talented but also enjoying what they were doing. The look of entrancement when he was playing was beautiful to watch and experience. When he played his last note it hung on the air like the scent of a wood fire on an Autumn evening.
There are platitudes that say do what you love and you won’t work a day … I am sure Yo-Yo worked hard to achieve his level of excellence but to him I believe he could not not play as much as he could stop breathing.
Thank you Yo-Yo.
